INSIGHT: Integrated Strategy in Hybrid Research Training

The Mixed Methods Training is a program designed to introduce and enhance participants’ understanding of the combined research approach that systematically integrates both qualitative and quantitative methods within a single study. The training aims to equip participants with theoretical knowledge and practical skills for designing, conducting, and analyzing mixed methods research. It is ideal for researchers, academics, graduate students, and professionals seeking to generate more comprehensive and context-rich findings by leveraging the strengths of both methodological approaches.

Through a combination of synchronous online sessions and asynchronous mentoring, participants will engage in interactive discussions, practical exercises, and guided projects. The training will cover key topics such as the rationale for using mixed methods, research design options (sequential, concurrent, and transformative strategies), data integration techniques, and strategies for writing and publishing mixed methods studies. Emphasis will be placed on real-world examples and best practices to help participants translate theory into actionable research plans.

This program not only supports the development of technical research competencies but also encourages critical thinking and reflective practice. By the end of the training, participants are expected to be able to design their own mixed methods research projects, critically evaluate existing studies, and apply integrated methodologies to address complex research questions in diverse fields of study.

This training aims to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding and practical skills in designing, conducting, and analyzing research using a mixed methods approach, which systematically integrates both quantitative and qualitative methods. Participants will be guided to identify appropriate mixed methods designs, develop instruments aligned with dual approaches, and interpret results in a comprehensive manner to produce richer and more meaningful findings.

Specifically, the training will enable participants to critically select and justify the use of mixed methods based on the research questions and objectives they seek to address. Participants will learn to strategically plan the sequencing or prioritization of quantitative and qualitative phases, ensuring methodological coherence and alignment throughout the study process.

In addition, the training fosters the ability to effectively integrate data from both paradigms to enhance the validity and depth of research outcomes. Participants will be equipped with strategies for managing potential challenges in mixed methods research, such as handling divergent results, balancing methodological rigor, and communicating findings clearly for academic publications and professional audiences.

The “Best Practice in Conducting Mixed Method Research” training will be held online on June 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (WIB/Western Indonesian Time). Following the synchronous session, participants will engage in asynchronous mentoring from June 16 to June 20, 2025, through the designated platform. All participants are expected to actively take part in both sessions to maximize their understanding and application of mixed method research approaches.

This session is part of a full-day event that also features trainings on qualitative and quantitative research proposal writing. Designed to build participants’ methodological competencies, the event offers a valuable opportunity for researchers, academics, and students to deepen their knowledge in specific approaches while also exploring how different methods can be integrated meaningfully.

By engaging in both live discussions and follow-up mentoring, participants will be guided not only in theoretical concepts but also in the practical steps of designing and implementing a mixed method study. The training is structured to foster interaction, reflection, and skill-building, equipping participants with the confidence to apply mixed methods in their own research contexts.

Participating in this training offers more than just theoretical knowledge—it equips attendees with the practical tools needed to design and implement robust mixed methods research. Whether participants are new to this approach or looking to refine their skills, the session is structured to bridge the gap between theory and real-world application.

Beyond content delivery, the training also fosters meaningful academic engagement. Participants will receive constructive feedback on their research ideas, engage in dynamic discussions with facilitators and peers, and build connections that may lead to future collaborations. A certificate of completion will be awarded to recognize their commitment and support their academic or professional growth.

Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, this training encourages participants to critically reflect on the suitability of mixed methods for their own research contexts. Through case examples and guided exploration, they will learn how to align research questions, data collection strategies, and analytical techniques in a coherent and methodologically sound design.

The training offers a flexible pricing structure to accommodate different needs. For those who prefer to focus on one research approach, participants can attend a single session—either quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods—for IDR 50,000. For those looking to deepen their knowledge by attending multiple sessions, a discounted rate is available: IDR 90,000 for two sessions, or just IDR 120,000 for all three sessions—covering qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research. This structure allows participants to tailor their learning experience while gaining comprehensive insights into various research methodologies.

Each of the three training sessions will be held on June 14, 2025, as follows: the Quantitative Research session from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the Qualitative Research session from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and the Mixed Methods Research session from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Whether participants choose to attend one, two, or all three sessions, they will engage with expert instructors, learn best practices, and develop the skills necessary to craft strong, methodologically sound research proposals. This focused, full-day format ensures participants get the most out of the sessions, regardless of which research approach they choose.
